8 Day Jewish Heritage Tour

Sacred sites, historical treasures, and an incredible mix of new and old await visitors to Israel. This adventure tells the story of the Jewish people via in-depth and privately guided access to cultural and religious sites from ancient times and modern marvels alike.

From Tel Aviv, you’ll head north to the hills of the Galilee region where you’ll explore important historical sites like the ruins of Caesarea (the capital of Roman Judaea), Mount Carmel, the port of Acre, and the limestone grottos of Rosh Hanikra, accessible via the world’s steepest cable car. Later, visit Safed, one of Judaism’s four Holy Cities where, in the company of a private guide, you’ll stop at the Joseph Caro and Ha’Ari synagogues, meet with Kabbalah artists in a workshop in the Artists Quarter, and explore the Metsuda Citadel, which dates back to the Crusades. At the Hula Valley Nature Reserve, keep an eye peeled for cranes, storks, pelicans, and other birds on a private tour before visiting one of the world’s oldest synagogues in the Talmudic village of Katzrin and embarking on a private tour of wineries and olive-oil mills in the Golan Heights. (Don’t worry; there will be plenty of tastings along the way!) Next, see the Church of the Annunciation and Church of the First Miracle in Nazareth and head into the Gilboa Mountains to the Beit Shean Archaeological Park for a journey back through Israel’s captivating history before heading south to Jerusalem where you’ll witness the incredible Night Spectacular at the Tower of David, a breathtaking light show that serves as a fantastic introduction to the Holy City.

In Jerusalem, embark on a privately guided tour of the city’s incredible concentration of sacred sites, including Mount Scopus, the City of David archaeological site, the Zion Gate, the Jewish Quarter’s Four Sephardic Synagogues, and the Western Wall and the underground museum beneath it. In the New City, you’ll visit the Knesset and the Israel Museum (home of the Dead Sea Scrolls) with a private guide and take a moment to reflect at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial before taking a leisurely amble through the village of Ein Karem, where Marc Chagall’s famous stained-glass windows peer out from the Hadassah Medical Center. No visit to Israel is complete without a sojourn to Masada – the UNESCO-protected fortress where 1,000 defenders kept 15,000 Roman soldiers at bay for nearly two years – and the saline-rich Dead Sea. Finally, the adventure of a lifetime concludes back in Tel Aviv with a private guided tour of the city’s ancient past (the old port at Jaffa) and stylish present (the UNESCO-protected “White City”).
